The Ministry of Economy and Finance will host the 2025 APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) and Structural Reform Ministerial Meeting (SRMM) from October 21 to 23 at the Inspire Resort in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. The meeting will be presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yun Cheol. Under this year’s APEC theme, “Building a Sustainable Tomorrow”, participants will discuss the roles of innovation, finance, fiscal policy, and structural reform in achieving sustainable growth in response to accelerated digital economies such as AI, as well as structural changes in industry and demographics across the region.
On the first day (October 21), FMM, which will commence with the opening session, features four sessions – along with luncheon and dinner – covering: ①Global and Regional Economic and Financial Outlook (10:00 – 11:45), ②Digital Finance, ③Fiscal Policy, and ④Other Business, including APEC FMP Priorities for 2026 (13:40 – 17:10).
On the second day (October 22), the joint session of FMM and SRMM will be held for the first time under the theme of “Innovation and Digitalization”. This will be followed by the inaugural joint working luncheon between the Ministers and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) to strengthen cooperation with the private sector. In the afternoon, SRMM will convene, featuring two sessions to discuss: ①How Structural Reform can Contribute to Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Connect, Innovate, Prosper (14:50 – 16:20) and ②Structural Reform to Enhance Connectivity (16:35 – 17:50).
On the third day (October 23), two sessions will be held: ③Structural Reform to Promote Prosperity for All (09:30 –10:45) and ④Other Business and Conclusion (11:00 – 11:20). The three-day meeting will conclude with a Chair’s Press Conference for FMM and SRMM.
This Ministers’ Meeting marks the first time in APEC history that FMM and SRMM are held in a linked format, as well as being the last sectoral ministerial meeting prior to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM). Through this APEC FMM and SRMM, DPM Koo plans to demonstrate global leadership in the era of AI-driven transformation and carry the outcomes and momentum forward to AELM.
