2023 MDB Project Plaza is Held

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy jointly hosted the 2023 Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Project Plaza from November 28 to 29 in JW Marriott, Seoul.

The MDB Project Plaza is organized aiming to support Korean companies in their entry into the MDB procurement market worth more than $40 billion and winning promising construction bids as well as promoting the excellence of Korean businesses to both the MDBs and project owners from various countries.

At the event, institutions such as the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will present their procurement policies. During the project consultation session, Korean engineering and construction firms will have tailored one-on-one consultations with MDBs and project owners regarding 24 projects worth $6.6 billion in the fields of energy, environment, and transportation infrastructure.

In addition, officials in charge of directly commissioning projects at each country, particularly those related to MDB initiatives, will attend the event to provide detailed explanations of specific projects and ask for Korean companies’ participation.

In particular, an information session on the reconstruction projects in Ukraine will be held this year to encourage Korean companies’ involvement in the projects. To this end, not only officials from Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Infrastructure, and Ukrainian Railways but also representatives from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Export-Import Bank of Korea will elaborate on the project details including the current status of projects as well as funding policies at the session.
