2022 International Conference on Economic Innovation Partnership Program

MOEF Hosts the 2022 International Conference on Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP)

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) hosted the 2022 International Conference on Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP)[1] in Seoul on November 23. The conference was joined by about 200 people including high-level government officials from EIPP partner countries as well as relevant persons from public and private sectors.

Since the launch of EIPP in 2021, EIPP projects have been underway in partnership with Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Kenya and Hungary, focusing on the development of the infrastructure industry that is associated with manufacturing, capital relocation and smart cities, and some of them have produced tangible results. For example, the project that provides consultations for the overall development of Indonesia’s new capital city has contributed to the new legislation governing the new capital city and the projects in Uzbekistan regarding water supply system modernization in Angren City and solar panel manufacturing were listed as candidate projects of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

The conference was designed to introduce EIPP and help EIPP partner countries build networks with Korean public and private sectors.

At the conference, speakers gave presentations about four subjects including the importance of establishing economic cooperation partnerships between countries, the introduction to EIPP, the status of EIPP projects by country and the 2022-23 project plans. The conference was held in a business briefing format, allowing the coordinating agencies of EIPP projects and event participants to actively interact with each other during the Q&A session.

Going forward, the MOEF will continue to host international conferences on EIPP to share the status of EIPP projects and listen to different opinions from the public and private sectors to improve the program.

[1] EIPP is a policy and technical consultation program launched by the MOEF in 2020 to support the sustainable economic development of partner countries and to strengthen economic cooperation between countries.
