The consumer price index (CPI) in September 2025 rose by 2.1 % year-on-year (1.7% in August), driven by the expiration of a telecommunications fee discount and a rebound in petroleum product prices. Core inflation, which reflects the underlying trend by excluding volatile food and energy prices, increased by 2.0% year-on-year (1.3% in August). The CPI for living necessities, which tracks items with a high share of household spending, climbed by 2.5% year-on-year (1.5% in August).

Going forward, as uncertainties remain due to volatility in global oil prices, the government, in close coordination with relevant ministries, will make every effort to stabilize consumer prices. In particular, it will respond swiftly to changes in supply, demand, and prices of key items closely related to people’s livelihoods, such as agricultural, livestock and fisheries products, and petroleum products.
