G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting
Deputy Finance Minister for International Affairs Yoon Tae-sik attended the 4th G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting held in Naples, Italy from September 13 to 14, with other finance and central bank deputies from G20 member countries and guest countries[1], as well as officials from IMF, OECD, WB, BIS[2] and other international institutions. It was the fourth official meeting under the Italian G20 Presidency and the first official in-person gathering since Covid-19 broke out.
Six sessions of the meeting consisted of Global Economy, International Financial Architecture, International Taxation, Sustainable Finance, and Policies for the Recovery. While attending the sessions, Deputy Finance Minister Yoon suggested policies for global recovery, called for G20 leadership with regard to Covid-19 vaccine rollout expansion at the global level, and discussed the need to reach an agreement by the end of October meeting as for international digital taxes.
Bilateral Meetings
Deputy Minister Yoon had bilateral talks with Vice Finance Ministers from Italy, Indonesia, Australia, Sweden and Argentina, Central Bank Deputy Governors from Mexico and Indonesia, and officials from IMF, WB and other international organizations. Deputy Finance Minister Yoon and his bilateral talks counterparts exchanged thoughts on uneven global recovery, climate change responses, low-income country debt restructuring, 2021 general SDR allocation and global Covid-19 vaccine supplies.
