Korea Approves Funding for New Deal Projects

for 23 Developing Countries through KGGTF

 

 

The MOEF approved on December 1st to provide US 9.874 million in green and digital technical cooperation projects for 23 developing countries through Korea Green Growth Trust Fund[1]. Through these projects, local public institutions related to the Green New Deal and Digital New Deal and private companies are expected to expand its business opportunities oversea. Approved projects will involve sectors from the Digital New Deal, Green New Deal, and healthcare.

 

Key Project

One key project that will be supported by the Korean government is implementation of innovative technology for urban transportation in Almaty Kazakhstan and Tashkent Uzbekistan. To prepare for the post Covid-19 era, this project will provide US 600 thousand over 2 years to help them secure smart city strategy that adopts clean, safe and sustainable transportation system.

 

Future of KGGTF

With approval of these projects, the scale of KGGTF will be expanded to total 165 cases with US 87.54 million, and the operation size for World Bank partnering with KGGTF is expected to increase to around US18.5 billion.
