The MOEF hosts KSP Conference to
Discuss Ways for Knowledge Sharing
in the Post COVID-19 Era
The MOEF hosted 2020 Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) Conference on November 24th under a theme of “Knowledge Sharing in the Post Covid-19 Era” via both online and offline with Vice Minister of the MOEF, Kim Yongbeom and President of KDI, Chae Jeong Pyo in attendance to share ways for knowledge sharing in the post COVID-19 era, and introduce KSP’s main achievements in transitioning to digital and green economy as well as Korea’s disease prevention. Officials from home and abroad including ambassadors (Bangladesh, Senegal, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Rwanda) to Korea, and related official from developing countries and international organizations attended the conference via live stream.
Opening Remarks by 1st Vice Minister Kim Yongbeom
1st Vice Minister of the MOEF Kim Yongbeom, mentioned during his opening remarks that KSP’s role will be expanded to sharing knowledge and experience throughout areas of economy and society including health and medicine. Also in order to maximize the role of KSP, Korea will focus more on the nation’s strength such as building a smart city, Information and Technology, and water management. He also added that experience and knowledge gained from the Korean Digital New Deal and Green New Deal initiative will be widely shared with developing countries to support their transition to a digital and green economy.
Keynote Speech by MIT Economist Esther Duflo
MIT economist and a Nobel Leaureat Esther Duflo, who delivered keynote speech, “What should be the shape of policy in the COVID-19 era” said Korea can be a leader in making sure that the world ends up in the right place and has shown to the world that it’s possible to control the pandemic. She also mentioned Korea continues to make a great job showing how social protection system that respects the individual and economy, that manages the transition and the disruption coming from the digital revolution, and that is respectful of our climate is possible.
