DPM Hong Attends the 5th Eastern Economic Forum
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki attended the 5th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held in Vladivostok, Russia from September 4 to 6, where he discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation among Eurasian countries and develop Russia’s Far East.
Bilateral talks with Russian DPM Yuri Trutnev
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki had a sideline meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev on September 5 to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation. At the talks, DPM Hong discussed cooperation with regard to the 9 Bridge Plan and Korea-Russia FTA negotiations, as well as suggested launching a joint investment fund for manufacturing supplies and forming a council for infrastructure development in Northeast Asia. DPM Trutnev agreed with DPM Hong, saying he would work to help Korean companies investing in Russia.
Korea-Russia Business Dialogue
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki met with business leaders from Korea and Russia at the Korea-Russia Business Dialogue held on September 5, and discussed creating an economic link in the Northeast Asian region and developing it into a Eurasia value chain. DPM Hong talked about the 9 Bridge Plan and FTA as a platform for regional economic cooperation, and suggested forming a joint council for Northeast Asia infrastructure development.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki attended the plenary session of the 5th Eastern Economy Forum on September 5, where participating leaders delivered keynote speeches and discussed ways towards economic cooperation and prosperity in the Northeast Asia. DPM Hong and China’s Vice Premier Hu Chunhua shared their views that the two countries would strengthen cooperative relationship through the Korea-China Finance Minister’s Meeting.
DPM Hong visited Zvezda Shipyard located in Bolshoi Kamen on September 6, where Korean shipbuilders are working to help modernize the old facilities to expand it to be Russia’s largest shipyard. During his visit, DPM Hong met Korean employees working there.
