Korean FDI, Q4 2018 and Full Year

 

2018 Korean FDI Posts US $49.78 Billion

 

 

The 2018 Korean FDI amounted to US $49.78 billion, rising 11.6 percent compared with US $44.60 billion of the previous year.

By industry, Korean FDI focused on Manufacturing (32.9%), finance & insurance (32.6%), real estate & renting (10.2%), wholesale & retail (4.9%) and mining (4.3%)[1].

 

By region, Korean FDI concentrated on Asia (34.1%), Europe (23.5%), North America (22.8%), Latin America (16.3%), the Middle East (1.7%), Oceania (1.3%) and Africa (0.3%).

 

By country, the top five destinations for Korean FDI were the US (21.7%), the Cayman Islands (12.4%), China (9.6%), Hong Kong (7.0%) and Vietnam (6.4%)[2].

 

Korean FDI for Q4 2018

 

Korean foreign direct investment (FDI) for the fourth quarter of 2018 posted US $13.23 billion, rising 30.7 percent from US $10.12 billion a year ago and falling 2.4 percent from US $13.56 billion of the previous quarter.

By industry, Korean FDI focused on finance & insurance (36.8%), manufacturing (28.8%), real estate & renting (8.7%), wholesale & retail (5.9%) and mining (5.1%).

 

By region, FDI concentrated on Asia (33.6%), North America (29.5%), Europe (19.0%), Latin America (13.9%), the Middle East (2.1%), Oceania (1.7%) and Africa (0.3%).

 

By country, the top five destinations for Korean FDI were the US (17.4%), China (12.8%), the Cayman Islands (9.5%), Luxemburg (8.3%) and Hong Kong (6.0%).
